Copied from Ruritan National site:
Ruritan National and its members are dedicated to creating a better understanding among people, and through volunteer community service, making America’s communities a better place to live and work. Ruritan members across the country represent a cross-section of the communities they serve. Ruritan National has over 29,000 members throughout the United States in more than 1,100 local communities. Ruritan clubs unify the efforts of individuals, organizations, and institutions in the community toward making it an ideal place in which to live. The clubs work with those agencies which serve the community and contribute directly to its progress – often providing financial support for programs that already exist in the community. Most importantly, Ruritan clubs encourage and foster the ideal of service as the basis of all worthy enterprise.

Since we are a new club, we are keeping our goals broad so that as we see needs in our community we can narrow in on solutions to fit the need.
Our club's current areas of focus are:
Helping our senior citizens - visiting Elder Care facilities and providing assistance with activities, etc.
Helping the youth of our area - visiting schools to help with activities, reading to classrooms, etc. (must be vetted and approved as a volunteer by Fauquier County Public Schools)
Examples of our activities for the community are:
our annual Fall Fiesta,
Pancakes with Santa,
Red Cross Blood Drives,
Scholarships for high school seniors,
annual 5K Run in April,
Garden Plant/Flower Sale in May.
Further activities will be added.
Engage with various community projects and make a difference in the lives of others.
